As noted above, the light output is measured in Lumens. Beam distance is usually measured in meters while the Peak Beam is the light intensity and is measured in candela. Understanding these three concepts is crucial. Keen adherence to the simple mathematical rules will certainly enable you to find the suiting brightness that fulfills your needs.

Importantly, most of these are voluntary standardization and not every flashlight manufacturer incorporates them. However, if you’re out and searching, you’ll recognize the terms used and determine whether they meet your taste and preference.
